Irma Martin is a resident of Gautier, Mississippi, where she enjoys her retirement spending time with her family which includes spoiling her three grandchildren. She spends the remainder of her time serving in her church (Church on the Rock, Pascagoula), AARP, and TRIAD.
Irma has always had a passion for education. After 34 years of teaching and mentoring teens in Chicago Public Schools, she is blessed to now be able to bring information to Jackson County Seniors about issues that affect their quality of life. Through events sponsored by AARP Mississippi, AARP National, and Jackson County TRIAD, she helps keep seniors abreast of current scams and fraud, as well as health issues. One of her most enjoyable tasks as an AARP Mississippi State Appointed volunteer is facilitating Jackson County Caregivers’ Connection Support Group once a month along with her fellow volunteers.
Irma feels blessed with opportunities to work with AARP Mississippi and her fellow volunteers and would like to broaden her borders to serve as a volunteer educator in Africa.
